Option 1: affordable flights through us
Option 2: be flexibel and choose your own flights
Your adventure kicks off in Nairobi! We’ll be expecting you at our first hotel between 3 PM and 11 PM on day one. Feel free to book your flights through us via Brussels or Amsterdam, or if you prefer, you can handle your own flight arrangements.
We offer direct flight from Brussels starting at €690 per person. This includes 1 checked bag of 23 kg.
Below you will find an overview of flight information:
You can check all flight prices via the calendar at the bottom of the website page. Keep in mind that these prices may vary depending on the period and availability.
The first night you will be staying at a hotel close to Nairobi Airport (Kozi Suites).
Prefer to book your own flights? Make sure to take into account the week’s schedule.
Of course, you can also choose to arrive earlier in Kenya or leave later, but in that case, you’ll need to arrange your own transportation and accommodations for the days outside the road trip.
Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
On the second day (Tuesday), your car will be dropped at your hotel in the morning. From here, you can directly start your roadtrip!
On day 10 of your trip, you will drive from Amboseli to the train station of Emali. Here you can drop-off your car before you board the train to coast!

Here you’ll find some frequently asked questions about the road trip through Kenya. If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact us via email.
You will get the keys of your car on the morning of day 2, ready to start your adventure.
On day 9, you will hand in the car at Emali train station, right before you board the train to the coast. Here, a shuttle will bring you to your hotel.
You will be driving a Land Cruiser Troopy, this is a manual.
Please note that while our vehicles are well-maintained, they are not new. Features such as the audio system or A/C are not comparable to what you are used to in cars back home, where roads are smoother and rental vehicles are typically newer.
Are you uncertain about your own driving skills? You can always choose to go together with a driver (+€450 per car)
Before your trip to Kenya, it’s advisable to get vaccinated against Hepatitis A, and a yellow fever vaccination is mandatory if you’re arriving from or traveling through a country with a yellow fever risk. We advice to consult your doctor for the best advice.
Malaria is a concern in some parts of Kenya. Mosquitoes carrying malaria are most active at night, so sleeping under a treated mosquito net is key. Using insect repellent, wearing long sleeves and pants in the evening, and staying in accommodations with screened windows or air conditioning can help minimise your risk.
It’s wise to consult your doctor or a travel clinic well in advance for a prescription for preventive malaria medication.
To travel to Kenya, you will need the following documents:
Driving alone in Kenya’s national parks is generally safe, highly rewarding, and the ultimate way to experience the Kenya Nomads Roadtrip Itinerary. There are some rules and guidelines to follow that make your trip safe. We will share these with you after booking so you are well prepared during your trip.
Please note: unsupervised self-driving in Masai Mara is no longer allowed. You must be accompanied by a park ranger, which you can easily arrange at the gate (costs are $40 per day). A ranger is not required if you have hired a driver-guide.
The travel guide contains all the information you need for a successful visit to Kenya. On one hand, the complete itinerary is mapped out. You’ll visit some of the most famous spots in Kenya, but we’ll also guide you to lesser-known places. We’ll suggest some addresses, but of course, you’ll have the choice to stop along the way or add extra things beyond what we propose.
We offer a fully mapped road trip, so it is not possible to adjust the duration of the trip. However, you are of course free to extend your trip on your own initiative, such as staying a few extra days in Kenya or visiting another country.
If you wish to stay in a different place than the one we have booked for you or skip certain stops to prioritize other points, that is possible, but you will need to handle the booking yourself.
Also, do you wish to end your trip in Diani/Mombassa instead of flying back to Nairobi, please let us know!
Kenya Nomads has been specially designed for groups of 2, 3, or 4 people.
If you’re 3 or 4 and want to go camping, we provide an extra rooftop tent along with camping gear (mattress, sleeping bag, and pillow), as a single rooftop tent is only spacious enough for a maximum of 2 people.
Some of the additional costs that you can expect include:
Within 5 days of your registration, you will need to pay a 35% deposit to confirm your trip. After that, you have until 45 days before departure to modify your options and pay the balance. If you make any changes to your options, the deposit will be recalculated automatically.
There are different payment options. Did your payment fail? It’s probably due to an error when entering the reference number or exceeding your account limit.
You can still cancel your trip. You can find the cancellation conditions here.
An accident can happen quickly, which is why we recommend adding a damage waiver to your booking. This coverage will cost you €20 per day and will insure the vehicle when a member of your team is driving. For Kenya, that totals €180. By selecting this coverage, you won’t have to pay a security deposit.
If you choose not to take coverage, you will need to pay a deposit of €1000 before your departure.
When picking up the cars in Nairobi, you will be warmly welcomed by our local partners. They will greet you and provide you with information before your journey begins.
During your trip in Kenya, you can find all sorts of useful information in our app. Additionally, just before you depart, you can join the chat channel in the app with all the participants leaving on the same date. In that group, you can communicate with each other, and there will be someone from our team available in case of emergencies.
Though individually, you will follow the same route as other Kenya Nomads travellers.
No, you do not need an International Driving Permit (IDP) to drive in Kenya. Your valid license from your home country is sufficient. Make sure to always carry your driver’s license with you when driving.
