Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Here you’ll find some frequently asked questions about the road trip through Kenya. If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact us.

Is a damage waiver needed for Kenya?

As you will be traveling together with a driver, a damage waiver is not required!

Where and when will you meet your driver & vehicle?

On the morning of day 2 (Saturday) your driver will pick you up from your hotel. The adventure starts immediately as you well set off to your first safari in Lake Nakuru National Park!

Is Kenya Nomads possible for self-drive?

We believe that Kenya is best experienced together with a driver. He/she will also be your guide and can tell you everything about the culture, nature and be your expert during the safaris! For this reason, Kenya Nomads is currently not available as a self-drive.

What is the situation regarding malaria?

Malaria is a concern in some parts of Kenya. Mosquitoes carrying malaria are most active at night, so sleeping under a treated mosquito net is key. Using insect repellent, wearing long sleeves and pants in the evening, and staying in accommodations with screened windows or air conditioning can help minimise your risk.

It’s wise to consult your doctor or a travel clinic well in advance for a prescription for preventive malaria medication.

What vaccinations do I need for my trip to Kenya?

Before your trip to Kenya, it’s advisable to get vaccinated against Hepatitis A, and a yellow fever vaccination is mandatory if you’re arriving from or traveling through a country with a yellow fever risk. We advice to consult your doctor for the best advice.

Can I customise the trip to my own liking?

As we offer a fully organised trip, it is not possible to adjust the duration or itinerary. However, you are free to extend your trip independently by spending a few extra days on site afterwards, for example, or continuing your journey to another country.

What documents do I need for this trip?
  • An international passport valid for at least 6 months after your return date.
  • An electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). You can easily apply for this via the official website. You will receive more information about the eTA application via email after registering.
What are the additional costs?
  • Snacks and drinks, lunch and dinner in Naivasha & Nairobi
  • Extra optional activities
  • Local SIM card
  • Tips for guides and locals.
  • Personal expenses, such as souvenirs.
